Philly for Change Endorses Obama, Dicker

Dateline: 3/7/08 - Philly for Change, a 4000-member grassroots political organization that fights for progressive public policy at the local, state and national has decided to endorse Barack Obama for President, and Anne Dicker for Senator in the 1st Pa., State Senatorial district. The group�s members voted on these endorsements their monthly meeting this past Wednesday. "Barack Obama and Anne Dicker represent a new kind of politics that empowers people to make a difference in their communities, not just serving the lobbyists and special interests,� said Philly for Change Endorsement Chair, Sam Durso. �Our membership felt they were the best candidates to bring openness and transparency to government, and to promote economic and social justice,"
PFC members chose to endorse Senator Obama for President because he has promised to address climate change, end the war in Iraq, and find a way to provide health care all....
Philly for Change plans to canvass, phone-bank, and get-out-the-vote in support of the endorsed candidates. Last year they played an active role in helping to elect Mayor Michael Nutter and Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez. The group will make additional endorsements next week at a special member meeting on Thursday, March 13th.
